The General Data Protection Act is a regulation in EU law on data protection and privacy for all individuals within the European Union.
Although it has been in place since April 2016 the regulations are effective from 25th May 2018.
It affects the way Albacore stores and communicates data regarding our employees, and also any personal data we have received from individual customers or clients, either through the sales database or through our customer surveys.
Any personal data will now be e-mailed using encryption. Paper forms will be handed directly to the Directors, and any telephone conversations regarding personal details must not be done by voicemail.
Any data concerning personal information on our payroll system is no longer accessible without a password, which will be supplied to the managers individually.
Our contract managers are not permitted to keep personal information within personnel files, including home address, bank details, National Insurance number etc. This will only be kept on our electronic database.
Any personnel information we hold will be destroyed after seven years.
